Create a Card Thursday

Hey Scrap Fans! My mom texted me this morning and asked me to make a card for her for a baby shower. I spent some time perusing Pinterest, digging through my scrap basket and looking  at shapes on my Silhoutte. It was a nice change from working on my normal 12x12 layouts. He's what I came up with:

I used kraft cardstock for the card base and to make the envelope with my We R Memory Keepers punch board. I used some various scrap pieces from My Mind's Eye and Studio Calico and the banner punch from Stampin' Up! I found the "welcome baby" cut in the Silhoutte store and the round Sticky Keys letter stickers are from October Afternoon. I used a square punch from EK Success and the scallop square punch from Stampin' Up! to decorate the envelope. The brown twine is from WRMK Sew Easy collection.

After making this card, it got me thinking how I often need cards and have to make them on the spot when I do need them. (When you're crafty, everyone expects a homemade card from you.) Cards are a great way to use up scrap pieces, to excercise creativity in short spurts and try new techniques on a small scale.  So that gave me the idea to start a series on my blog called Create a Card Thursday! (Since today happens to be Thursday. Had I thought of this yesterday, we would most likely be looking at Create a Card Wednesday)

So there you have it- Create a Card Thursday. I'm looking forward to trying some new designs to share with you and stocking up on some cards for future use. Until next time, Happy Scrappin'!!
