When Inspiration Strikes....

Hey Scrap fans! When I received this sheet of paper called Up Hill by Studio Calico, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it. It wasn't like pattern paper I was used to using and the curved shape of the buildings kind of threw me off. I looked at the Studio Calico blog to see what others were doing, but nothing really spoke to me. I put it aside, figuring I would eventually use the B side for something.

I was going through some older photos that I wanted to scrap and hadn't gotten around to yet, and I found this pic of my daughter and niece taken in 2009 at an annual motorcycle rally in our town. I had kept putting off scrapping it because I hadn't really been inspired to, but when I came across it this time, I immediately thought of that Studio Calico paper and I knew I had a winner. Here is the layout that resulted:

I cropped my photo to 4x4 and matted it on yellow and made it the focal point of my layout. I managed to work in some Harley Davidson stickers I had purchased for this photo, back when I was into themey stickers. I created a visual triangle with two embellishment clusters and the journaling block, which I typed and printed out, along with some washi tape and enamel dots. I used Thickers from the Amy Tangerine Plus One line and yellow letter stickers from My Little Shoebox to spell out my title.

I was really happy how this layout came together and am glad I waited so long to scrap these photos. Sometimes all it takes is the right inspiration to get you motivated. Here's to some coming your way too. Happy Scrappin'!!
